The Social-Democratic Union (SDU) says Serbia's state officials should have attended the commemoration of the 16th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide. Instead of showing up in Potocari, they chose to pretend that the commemoration was not taking place, said the party. The statement added that in the last several months, those who by defending Hague indictee Ratko Mladic deny the ruling for the Srebrenica genocide, had become more vocal. "The servile attitude of a large number of media in Serbia toward the Srebrenica genocide denies is terrifying, and it speaks about the offensive of these retrograde forces," believes SDU. The party concluded that, with rare exceptions, the democratic public in Serbia is silent and waiting for this day to be over, instead of speaking about the policy of Slobodan Milosevic which essentially led to the genocide in Srebrenica.
