The buses were returning from St. Vitus Day ceremonies at Gazimestan. Ethnic Albanians attack bus carrying Serbs Darko Gusnic, Deputy Kosovo police (KPS) commander in the ethnically divided town in the north of the province said that stones thrown at the buses broke windows on two vehicles in a convoy of five. Eyewitnesses said that a group of young men ambushed the buses and attacked the last two in the convoy. According to this, when police stopped the buses, a group of ethnic Albanians showed up, "and then mutual insults and cursing ensued". Police managed to prevent "more serious incidents" and clashes, said reports, but ethnic Albanians managed to inflict light injuries on two persons, including a journalist who was filming the incident. The bridge on the Ibar River was blocked for almost an hour. The bridge separates the northern, mostly Serb, from the southern, ethnic Albanian part of the town. In a separate incident at the Gazimestan memorial itself - four Serbs were arrested for "provocation", said KPS. One of the arrested Serbs was also injured. A member of the KPS was also reported as injured.
