Serbia's Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic said Tuesday that Belgrade did not want Pristina's - i.e. Kosovo Albanian - representatives excluded from regional events. But that their participation is clearly defined by UN Security Council Resolution 1244, he noted. Jeremic: UNSCR 1244 defines Pristina representation "When it comes to regional events, our policy is clear. We do not want Pristina's representatives to be excluded, but we cannot talk of membership or any participation format which is outside the framework of UNMIK and Resolution 1244, which clearly defined the way Pristina's representatives can be allowed to take part," the minister said. "One example of this was yesterday's meeting in Luxembourg, where EU foreign ministers met with minsters from the Western Balkans. Pristina's representatives were there, but within clearly defined parameters, accompanied by UNMIK. UMMIK spoke directly before the representatives of Pristina, exactly as UN Resolution 1244 mandates," Jeremic added. "There have been attempts to change the format. We resisted and the event ended up taking place. Our position was clear and based on UN Resolution 1244," Jeremic said on the sidelines of a meeting of Adriatic-Ionian Initiative coordinators in Belgrade on Tuesday.
