Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) leader Ivica Dacic says the goal is to achieve a “significant result“ in next elections and form a coalition with Democrats. “With all due respect to our coalition partners, our goal is to beat them in the next elections and form a coalition afterward,“ he stressed. SPS leader wants coalition with Democrats after elections He has called on the coalition partners in the government to treat the SPS and its coalition partners United Serbia (JS) and the Party of United Pensioners of Serbia (PUPS) with respect. “If there had not been for the SPS there would not have been a coalition or there would be some other which would not have been so good for Serbia,“ the SPS leader pointed out. He stressed that the SPS, PUPS and JS with 7.6 percent of votes in the last elections could not realize all of their requests and that therefore they needed to have a better result in the next elections. “Results need to be better so Socialists could fight for a better position of pensioners and workers more efficiently,“ he stressed. Dacic also added that the SPS advocated national reconciliation but that the issue should not only be brought up when someone wanted to divert attention from other issues. Commenting on a court decision which took away Slobodan Milosevic family's property rights over a Belgrade villa, he said that Serbian citizens would not be better off beacuse of it. He also said that the SPS had survived even more powerful blows. The SPS leader thanked those who toppled them on October 5, 2000 because otherwise, as he said, Socialists would maybe keep thinking that they are the best and flawless. “We have realized that history does not begin with us and that it may not end with us as a result of a poor policy,“ Dacic concluded.
