After a long time Serbia will be praised before the UN Security Council on Monday. However, in order to get the EU candidate status Serbia will still have to implement reforms. Reforms precondition for candidate status Hague Tribunal Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz will praise Serbia for arresting Ratko Mladic in his oral report on Monday. In the meantime Serbian President Boris Tadic will meet with Council of Europe President Herman Van Rompuy. Brammertz’s spokesman could not confirm that the Hague Tribunal chief prosecutor would use words “full cooperation” in his address before the UN Security Council. “He will certainly praise Tadic’s great success in ending cooperation with The Hague, success of the National Security Council and success of the Action team. He will certainly reflect on the fact that we should complete the cooperation with (Goran) Hadzic but also on the positive part of the report,” Serbia’s War Crimes Prosecution Spokesman Bruno Vekaric said. Brammertz’s positive comments, however, do not mean that Serbia can avoid implementing reforms that are precondition for EU candidacy. The Justice Ministry claims that everything will be done in time.
