The EU will temporarily reintroduce visas for any W. Balkans country if in the period of six months the inflow of false asylum seekers increases by 50 percent. This is according to a proposal adopted by the EU on May 25, Beta news agency reported. EU adopts proposal on visa regime changes Visas for citizens of any of the Western Balkan countries could also be reintroduced temporarily if, in half a year, in a particular country the number of rejected applications for the repatriation of its citizens who are staying in the Schengen zone illegally increases by 50 percent, stated the EU document, which Beta had access into. The putting out of effect of the visa-free regime for a country would last for six months and, if there is no improvement in an extraordinary situation which calls for an urgent response for the resolving of difficulties in an EU member country, this measure could be prolonged for another nine months. This mechanism, which the EU Council of Ministers should adopt in June, will be implemented, besides in the Western Balkans, in all other countries whose citizens can travel to the EU without visas.
