Serbia's Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic has said that the EU recognizes Serbia's efforts in European integration. He added that Serbia is working to reduce the number of fake asylum requests. "Europe recognizes Serbia's efforts," says deputy PM Serbia's achievements are recognized, proven by the fact that European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso said for the first time in Belgrade on Thursday that the EU was considering to increase its financial assistance to the country, Djelic told TV B92. The government will do everything to preserve the visa liberalization with the EU, which is threatened by problems with fake asylum seekers, he stated. "The visa liberalization is the most tangible result of our EU integration and its loss would have far-reaching consequences," Djelic underlined. Commenting on the ongoing talks between Belgrade and Pristina, Djelic stated that Belgrade was better prepared for the start of the dialogue and suggests solutions more often than the other side. The result of the talks will not be a condition for getting the status of a candidate for EU membership, unlike the cooperation with the Hague, he added. Bozidar Djelic (file)
