Some 600 policemen are reportedly taking part in an ongoing arrest operation this Tuesday, launched against an organized crime group. Members of the group are suspected of abusing official position and illegally organizing games of chance. 600 policemen take part in arrest operation A part of the group, which is said to be made up of a large number suspects, was also involved in corruption, according to reports. It is believed that some owners of betting parlors paid bribes to officials of the Ministry of Finance and the Games of Chance Directorate in order to be able to organize illegal competitions. Five officials from the ministry and directorate have thus far been arrested. A total of 17 people have been detained. The arrests and searches are being carried out in more than 150 locations throughout Serbia, in what police, the Counter-Organized Crime Service and the Organized Crime Prosecution dubbed Operation Amfiteatar (Amphitheater).
