Head of the Belgrade negotiating team Borislav Stefanovic is visiting Pristina today where he will meet with Kosovo officials. This is the first time since Kosovo Albanians unilaterally declared independence that a Serbian official is visiting Pristina. Belgrade team chief travels to Pristina According to earlier announcements, Stefanovic will discuss the topics of the dialogue that the two parties are having in Brussels with his Kosovo Albanian counterpart Edita Tahiri and Deputy Prime Minister Hajredin Kuci. Opposition parties’ leaders, except for Self-Determination Movement leader Albin Kurti who sees the visit as a provocation, have showed readiness to meet with Stefanovic. Public and media in Kosovo are very interested in the today’s visit. Some Pristina dailies have reported that Kosovo authorities are unsure whether to welcome the Belgrade team head or ignore his visit. On the other hand, other dailies write that Kosovo authorities will prepare a “state welcome”. Kuci has also announced that this could happen. Serbian and Kosovo officials will discuss the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue and therefore Stefanovic’s visit should not be considered as official, Pristina-based Albanian language daily Zeri writes, adding that he will arrive in a “private car”. Stefanovic himself stated ahead of the trip that the visit “has nothing to do with any attributes of statehood or with recognition of Kosovo’s independence, and that it therefore cannot be a state visit”.
