Serbian President and Democratic Party (DS) leader Boris Tadic says that the DS is prepared to reconcile with its opponents in order to achieve common goals. He pointed out that the DS was not running away from responsibility and that it was quite the contrary taking it even when it was not its to take. “DS ready to reconcile with opponents” “The DS today is an organization which will be ready to reconcile with its opponents in the future if we together perceive the future and general goals,” Tadic explained. He attended a central celebration of the DS’ patron saint day, St. George, in Soko Banja. “The DS is not a warrior party, even though its patron saint is a man-conqueror,” he pointed out. The DS leader pointed out that his party was peaceful and that its most important mission was to fight for peace every day. “We are not running away from difficult decisions and it is our obligation to make them. That’s why we are in this place, where we perform our social and political duty. We will continue to make difficult decisions in the future, just like we did in the past and we are not running away from the risk,” he stated, adding that he would accept any risk that had purpose and which would open a new door and new perspective for all citizens. He thanked DS’ coalition partners for, as he said, their sacrifice and readiness to develop Serbia’s future together with the DS. “We have to solve conflicts that come from past times,” Tadic stressed, pointing out that those were economic lagging, social tensions, insufficiently modernized and developed society, low institutional consciousness, Kosovo and unsolved issues in the neighboring countries. DS’ coalition partners Vuk Draskovic, Dragan Markovic Palma, Aleksandar Antic, Jovan Krkobabic, Rasim Ljajic and Zarko Obradovic attended the celebration in Soko Banja.
