Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic spoke about fake asylum seekers on Thrusday to say that there is no political repression in Serbia. Therefore, there is no reason for Serbian citizens to seek asylum in the EU, said Dacic. "No repression, no reason to seek asylum" He pointed out that 95 percent of the asylum seekers are Roma, ethnic Albanians and, in smaller part, Bosniaks (Muslims), and that most of them head to Sweden, Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg. At a joint news conference with Luxembourg's Minister of Labor, Employment and Immigration Nicolas Schmit, he stressed that in the future Serbia will collaborate with other countries and take even more efficient measures to curb the asylum requests. According to him, this includes stricter border control, raising public awareness, meetings with representatives of the Roma and ethnic Albanian communities in Serbia and investigating the existence of organized criminal groups who transfer people across the border. Schmit said that the two countries have opened a new chapter in bilateral relations and that all problems will be solved together, as well as that all Europeans should be able to move freely, respecting regulations, the Serbian Interior Ministry said in a statement. During his visit to Luxembourg, Dacic also met with Luxembourg's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn, reads the release. Reports recently said that EU could revoke the visa liberalization regime it has in place with Serbia because of the increased number of fake asylum seekers. Ivica Dacic (Tanjug, file)
