B92 TV will tonight air the second part of its investigative program Re-Akcija (Reaction) exploring ties between crime and politics in Kosovo. The program, which starts at 20:00 CET, investigates the reasons for many years of silence when it comes to some crimes committed in Kosovo. B92's "Who Rules Kosovo", part 2 Council of Europe Rapporteur Dick Marty's report last December stated that kidnappings and organ trade in the 1990s were committed by the ethnic Albanian KLA, naming mostly its leaders. The name of Dr. Shaip Muja is among those mentioned in the report. He is described as one of the persons who had a key role in the human organ trafficking in Kosovo and in Albania. Muja gave an exclusive interview to the B92 program, challenging Marty to provide "facts against him". "I am ready to face Dick Marty in court, as well as others if they have any facts against me personally. At the time I was the health coordinator and at the time I cooperated with representatives of international organizations, cooperated very closely in the north and in Albania and at the time, there were no professional possibilities, nor technical conditions, to do something of the kind. Even today, I firmly believe, in Albania and in Kosovo there are no possibilities to sell organs, preserve organs, transport them and the like," said former KLA Muja. Meanwhile, Belgrade and Pristina have started a political dialogue. Ahead of the talks, media around the world covered the Marty report, which details crimes committed against Serbs, Romas, and disloyal Albanians, that included torture, murder, and illegal trafficking in their organs. The report, which formed the basis of a subsequent Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) resolution, blames KLA members - mostly its leaders - for these atrocities, some of whom are today holding top positions in the government and the assembly in Pristina. The Marty report also noted that to date there had been no serious investigation into the allegations in order to determine the credibility of previous reports investigating the same subject. The crimes described in these reports took place more than a decade ago. Deputy Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor Bruno Vekaric also spoke for the program, saying that he was "less surprised that it's possible that there has been no procedure, and more surprised that even when there was, it was conducted to, to all intents and purposes, cover up the very investigation being conducted". "I believe that is absurd," said Vekaric. The second part of the program will also look at other crimes in Kosovo, including drugs and weapons smuggling and the alleged involvement of top Kosovo Albanian political officials. Re-Akcija airs on B92 TV and is also streamed live online (schedule, Serbian)
