Pristina authorities intend to privatize Trepca Mining and Metallurgical Complex, Pristina-based Albanian language daily Koha Ditore reported Sunday. The privatization method would be the same as applied in the case of Pristina airport, by granting the concession for 20 years. Daily: Pristina to privatize mining complex Privatization Agency of Kosovo (PAK) Board of Directors member Naser Osmani pointed to the need of coordination among institutions on the issue of privatization of the enterprise. “The parties involved should act in line with the relevant process. A law on Trepca should regulate the questions to ask the PAK,” he said. According to the plan of the provisional provincial government, it is expected that the mining sector will be restructured in a form attractive to domestic and international investors. Trepca facilities are located in the southern and northern Kosovska Mitrovica, a city that has been divided between ethnic Albanians and Serbs since the arrival of the international forces in the province in June 1999. The right to the metallurgical complex is also claimed by the Serbian government.

The right to the metallurgical complex is also claimed by the Serbian government.
