Deputy PM Bozidar Djelic expressed belief on Tuesday that the European Commission (EC) will gave a positive opinion on Serbia's EU candidate status in October. He also expects a date to be set for the beginning of accession talks with the EU. "Spring to bring key European reforms to Serbia" Djelic stated at promotion of the European Integration Challenges magazine that this spring Serbia will face key European reforms, which will last for ten weeks and be aimed at fulfillment of 96 points of the government's Action Plan. He explained that this will be difficult, but expressed belief that the whole job will be done by June 15, when the EC will start to draft its opinion which is to be published on October 12. According to him, several complex laws need to be adopted during that period including the Law on Restitution, the Law on Financing of Political Parties, and the Law on Election of MPs. Djelic said that the European integration and cooperation with the EU are a guarantee for anyone who would like to do business with Serbia, stressing the importance of winning EU candidate status and beginning of talks with the EU which are in the interest of the Serbian citizens.
