URS launches campaign for decentralization

The United Regions of Serbia (URS) has launched a campaign in the central Serbian town of Kragujevac on Saturday aimed at decentralizing power in Serbia. The campaign will include a petition to support the purpose. The URS are proposing that 80 percent of payroll taxes should be given to local authorities which collect them and that citizens should be allowed to directly elect and dismiss the municipality president and mayor, as well as that local self-governments should be returned the property which has been confiscated from them.
