Novi Pazar gets second Islamic faculty

The Islamic Faculty of theIslamic Community of Serbia was opened in Novi Pazar on Sunday. Daily Vecernje Novosti writes today that it will be “part of the educational system of Serbia.” Novi Pazar gets second Islamic faculty The faculty will school 65 students, 45 from Novi Pazar and 20 from Belgrade, and the official presentation was attended by reis of the Islamic Community of Serbia Adem Zilkic and the mufti of Belgrade Muhamed Jusufspahic. Zilkic said the faculty was a capital project and pointed out that the Islamic Community wants the diplomas received by the faculty will be valid, i.e. recognized by the state. The educational institution will be headed by Mehmed Becovic, Serbia’s former ambassador to Morocco. Novi Pazar already has the Faculty of the Islamic Institution founded by the Mashihat of the Islamic Community of Serbia, headed by head mufti Muamer Zukorlic. The state recognizes this faculty, and the Ministry of Religion provides scholarships for its students, said the report. The Islamic Community of Serbia, headed by Zilkic and Jusufspahic is at odds with the Islamic Community in Serbia headed by Zukorlic. The latter organization recognizes Sarajevo, rather than Belgrade as its seat.
