Serbia undoubtedly has a future in the EU, Dutch Ambassador to Serbia Laurent Stokvis has stated. He pointed out, however, that Hague Tribunal Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz’s next report would be critical for the Dutch parliament ratification of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) between the EU and Serbia. “Hague cooperation key for SAA ratification” “The parliament could ratify the SAA before the report if the remaining two Hague fugitives Ratko Mladic and Goran Hadzic were arrested in the meantime,” Stokvis noted. “A delegation from the Dutch parliament will visit Serbia soon,” the ambassador announced, adding that the relations between the two parliaments were good. The SAA has been ratified by 17 countries so far. Portugal was the last to do so, on March 4. Another 10 parliaments need to ratify the document before it could enter into force.
