MPs to debate govt. reshuffle on Monday

Serbian parliament Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic said Friday that Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic had forwarded nominations for new ministers to parliament. She told Tanjug that she would schedule a session for Monday with a single topic on the agenda - the proposal for government reshuffle, election of new ministers and their taking of oaths. MPs to debate govt. reshuffle on Monday “The debate will probably last all day and new ministers might take their oaths late in the evening,” she explained. “The goal of the government reshuffle is to rationalize and raise the efficiency of the administration and reduce public expenditure,” the speaker pointed out. The parliament received earlier on Friday resignation letters from 14 ministers, including eight who are definitely leaving the government. They are Finance Minister Diana Dragutinovic, Agriculture Minister Sasa Dragin, Trade Minister Slobodan Milosavljevic, Religion Minister Bogoljub Sijakovic, Human and Minority Rights Minister Svetozar Ciplic, Energy Minister Petar Skundric, Telecommunications Minister Jasna Matic and Culture Minister Nebojsa Bradic. Six ministers will remain in office, but with additional portfolios. Bozidar Djelic will remain deputy prime minister but will no longer be science minister, Milutin Mrkonjic will be infrastructure and energy minister, Milan Markovic will be public administration, local self-government and human and minority rights minister, Zarko Obradovic will be education and science minister, Oliver Dulic will perform duties of environment, mining and spatial planning minister and Srdjan Sreckovic will be religion and diaspora minister. “The debate will probably last all day and new ministers might take their oaths late in the evening,” she explained.

“The goal of the government reshuffle is to rationalize and raise the efficiency of the administration and reduce public expenditure,” the speaker pointed out.

Six ministers will remain in office, but with additional portfolios.

Božidar Đelić will remain deputy prime minister but will no longer be science minister, Milutin Mrkonjić will be infrastructure and energy minister, Milan Marković will be public administration, local self-government and human and minority rights minister, Žarko Obradović will be education and science minister, Oliver Dulić will perform duties of environment, mining and spatial planning minister and Srđan Srećković will be religion and diaspora minister.
