Parliament today resumed a debate on legislation covering a proposed cabinet reshuffle, started on Tuesday, Beta reports. The proposal discussed by MPs which envisions 17 ministries and 21 members instead of 24 ministries and 27 members. MPs continue government debate The debate in principle on the amendments to the law on government and ministries was finished on Wednesday afternoon. The session will continue on Thursday in Belgrade with a debate on amendments submitted by MPs. MPs have submitted around 30 amendments, mostly to the bill on ministries, under which the government would have 17 ministries and 21 members. During a debate which started Tuesday afternoon and lasted several hours, the parties in the ruling coalition expressed support for the reshuffle, while the Liberal Democratic Party, the Serb Radical Party, the Democratic Party of Serbia, the Serb Progressive Party and New Serbia voiced sharp criticism of the proposal. The ruling parties said the reshuffle was "a step forward," which will make the executive branch of government more efficient, and that the new team will finish ongoing projects and pass a new set of economic measures. The opposition called the proposed changes to Mirko Cvetkovic's cabinet cosmetic, criticizing the government's work to date, and assessing that the reshuffle is not motivated by poor results but political reasons. The debate on amendments to the proposed changes to the Law on Government and the ministries bill, which need to pass before the reshuffle can take place, will continue on Thursday. (Beta)

The debate in principle on the amendments to the law on government and ministries was finished on Wednesday afternoon.

The session will continue on Thursday in Belgrade with a debate on amendments submitted by MPs.
