Head of the Serbian negotiating team Borko Stefanovic stated late on Friday that the forthcoming Belgrade-Pristina talks would not be merely technical. “We believe that there is nothing merely technical about the lives of people and in the most difficult problems we need to solve,” he told Radio Television of Serbia (RTS). Belgrade-Pristina talks "not technical” “By appointing a high government official, Pristina has demonstrated that it takes the dialogue seriously and that the talks will not be merely technical,” Stefanovic pointed out. Noting that Belgrade has been expecting the initiation of the dialogue for five months now, he expressed expectation that the talks in Brussels would start as soon as in mid-March, when a “combination of easier and more difficult issues” would be tackled. He announced that very important issues should be opened by summer, which would help secure a normal life and safety for citizens in Kosovo and would help regulate the relations between Belgrade and Pristina. Stefanovic underscored that nobody was conditioning Belgrade by saying that the country would be granted the EU candidate status if the talks proved constructive. Borko Stefanovic (Tanjug, file)
