The Serbian Center for Demining and the International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance (ITF) from Slovenia signed a memorandum. The document was signed on Thursday at the Slovenian Embassy by the directors, Petar Mihajlovic and Dorijan Marsic. Mine clearance memorandum signed The memorandum continues the cooperation the two organizations started eight years ago, which includes personnel training, project funding and clearing areas of mines and unexploded cluster bombs, Mihajlovic pointed out. He noted that 65 million square meters have been cleared of mines in Serbia so far, such as Sid, the villages of Morovic and Jamena on the Croatian border, and six million square meters of cluster bombs (Nis, vicinity of Kraljevo, Mt. Kopaonik). On Kopaonik, which was a more delicate project, two locations still remain to be cleared of cluster bombs, but they are far from ski courses and access roads, Mihajlovic said. There are still 16 million square meters waiting to be cleared in Serbia, not counting Kosovo.
