Some 200 Bulgarian nationalists demonstrated in Sofia during the visit of Serbian PM Mirko Cvetkovic on Monday. The protest was organized by VMRO and Ataka parties and aimed against the visit, with participants demanding that Cvetkovic "apologizes" for the Serbian authorities decision on February 18 to block a group of Bulgarians from entering the country. At the time Bulgaria sent a protest note to the Serbian embassy in Sofia. The Bulgarian nationalists gathered for the protest also voiced their opinion that Serbia should not join the EU, "until it cancels its discriminatory policy toward Bulgarians in Serbia". Cvetkovic and his counterpart Boyko Borisov visited the monument to Levski yesterday, while according to the local news agency Focus, the Serbian PM said that he understood the feelings of Bulgarians when it comes to the historical figure, who he said was the "pride of all of Balkans", and, "of Serbia too". The Novinite website meantime said that a planned news conference the two prime ministers were to hold was canceled because of the protest of the nationalists, rather than because of the officials' "busy schedules". On Tuesday, Cvetkovic and Borisov will open a Bulgarian-Serbian business forum on Tuesday, which will gather the most important companies and businessmen of the two countries.
