Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic has resigned but the question is whether PM Mirko Cvetkovic will accept his resignation or continue the dismissal procedure. “Procedure is drastically different in those two cases,” Serbian parliament Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic told B92. Parliament could vote on Dinkic While the Democratic Party (DS) thinks that it does not matter how Dinkic will be relieved of his duty, G17 Plus says that they are not afraid of the parliament debate which will take place if the prime minister does not accept Dinkic's resignation. Parliament will debate on Dinkic next Moday. According to Djukic-Dejanovic, there are two options. “One is to debate on Mr. Dinkic’s dismissal procedure proposed by the prime minister, and the second is that there will be no debate if the prime minister sends me the resignation to inform the MPs, ascertain the resignation and the procedure will end. After the ascertainment or the debate, there will be a 15-day deadline when the prime minister should give me the names for new positions. If Dinkic’s resignation arrives, we will ascertain two resignations, the health minister and Minister Dinkic’s, through the same item,“ she stressed. DS MP and deputy leader Jelena Trivan believes that it does not matter whether Dinkic’s dismissal will be debated by the MPs or his resignation will be simply ascertained by the parliament speaker. “I don't share the opinion that the procedural result is so important. Those are two scenarios. The essential fact is that the prime minister has dismissed his deputy, that it is a different model of the government behavior, and it is for me personally less important which way it will formally be done,“ she pointed out. Opposition parties almost unanimously agree that Dinkic resigned in order to avoid the debate in parliament. The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) thinks that it is an attempt of the ruling coalition to avoid both responsibility and elections at any cost. G17 Plus Presidency member Miroslav Cuckovic has rejected the opposition’s allegations and claims that Dinkic resigned in order to save time and speed up the process. “We are proud of Mladjan Dinkic’s results both in this government and in the past ten years. And it’s only our wish to turn to the future as soon as possible, to pass the laws to get the EU candidacy and that the country moves forward and that citizens’ standard of living is the only issue that the politicians will deal with in the days to come,” he stressed. He also added that the G17 Plus Presidency would decide which two MPs in the Serbian parliament would be replaced by Dinkic and National Investment Plan Minister Verica Kalanovic, who resigned in the meantime. Cvetkovic launched the procedure for the dismissal of the economy minister yesterday and also proposed the dismissal of Finance Ministry State Secretary Slobodan Ilic.
