Police union "freeze" their strike

Representative of the Independent Trade Union of Police Velimir Barbulov said Tuesday that members of the union ended their strike. He added that negotiations with the Finance Ministry on harmonization of the provisions of a special collective agreement for employees of the Interior Ministry (MUP) would be continued on Wednesday. Police union "freeze" their strike Barbulov told Tanjug that the strike had been ended early on Tuesday and that the police were to return to their regular service. He noted that the conditions to end the strike had been met owing to the signing of a protocol between the union and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic late on Monday, according to which the financial situation of MUP employees would become better. “We are now monitoring the implementation of the provisions of the protocol, and if the document is respected, there will be no further strike,” said Barbulov. Barbulov said it was important that the social dialogue had been intensified due to the talks on improvement of the position of the police staff with the prime minister and the ministers of finance and interior. Members of the Independent Trade Union of Police went on strike on February 3.
