Police, education unions to negotiate

The Police Union of Serbia and the Independent Trade Union of Police have separately announced that they would meet with government officials. They are set to negotiate a special collective agreement for employees of the Interior Ministry (MUP) with the Finance Ministry on Monday. Police, education unions to negotiate The Finance Ministry told Tanjug that representatives of the PPS would come to the ministry's office to negotiate on the adoption of the special collective agreement for MUP employees, and the PPS said in their release that they would meet and talk with Finance Minister Diana Dragutinovic. The trade union said the talks should also touch on finding necessary funds for the “interim period until a collective agreement comes into force.” Meanwhile, representatives of Serbia's three teachers' trade unions should continue talks on salary raise requests with Ministers of Education and Finance, Zarko Obradovic and Diana Dragutinovic. As Tanjug learned at the Ministry of Education earlier, speaking on behalf of the Serbian government, Obradovic invited union representatives to attend the continuation of the talks on the draft protocol. The meeting is due to take place at the Finance Ministry building. In their new list of requests, teachers' trade unions called for two five-percent salary raises in 2011, requesting that the first hike be introduced as of May, while the one should be implemented starting October. On Sunday, Obradovic told B92 that he expects the teachers' strike to end soon and expressed belief that trade union representatives and the government will reach an agreement. (Beta)
