The Independent Trade Union of Police has announced that the union representatives and IM Ivica Dacic will meet today to discuss police officers’ requests. The police officers have been on strike since February 3. They demand a 40 percent salary hike and better working conditions. Minister, police union reps to meet today President Velimir Barbulov told B92 that the union representatives would present their requests to the interior minister for the first time since he returned from the U.S. Even though he expects that the talks will be constructive, Barbulov points out that fulfillment of the union's requests depends on the government. He also said that a meeting with the Finance Ministry's representatives had been scheduled for Monday, where special collective agreement for the Interior Ministry employees would be discussed. The Police Union of Serbia did not join the strike. Its members say they will wait for the government's response to the draft collective agreement and that they will go on strike on February 18 if the government does not adopt it. President Velimir Barbulov told B92 that the union representatives would present their requests to the interior minister for the first time since he returned from the U.S.Even though he expects that the talks will be constructive, Barbulov points out that fulfillment of the union's requests depends on the government.
