Defense Minister and Democratic Party (DS) deputy leader Dragan Sutanovac says “the government will survive” despite all problems. He added, however, that it was necessary to change the rhythm and have a new energy. Minister: Government needs new energy The defense minister told B92 that the DS did not have “an absolute power” in the country, even though it was the most responsible member of the ruling coalition. He did not want to talk about possible personnel changes. “The Democratic Party is the most responsible, but it doesn’t have an absolute power. Look at where the money, infrastructure and police are,” Sutanovac pointed out, explaining that the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) and G17 Plus were in charge of those ministries. He stressed that Serbia needed to change its tax system. “Public sector employees are on strike, but not those who are working for a minimum wage in the private sector, which shows that the money is also paid ‘under the table’,” he said. When asked whether it was normal for Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic to boycott government sessions, Sutanovac said he did not believe that the economy minister was doing that but he did agree that it would not be normal if he was really boycotting the meetings. The defense minister claims that relations within the ruling coalition were “fine” and that it was not true that President Boris Tadic was making decisions for Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic. Dinkic stated yesterday that the prime minister was not making any decisions on his own and that G17 Plus’ coalition partners were appointing “poltroons” and incompetent people to managerial positions. The defense minister told B92 that the DS did not have “an absolute power” in the country, even though it was the most responsible member of the ruling coalition.

He did not want to talk about possible personnel changes.

“The Democratic Party is the most responsible, but it doesn’t have an absolute power. Look at where the money, infrastructure and police are,” Šutanovac pointed out, explaining that the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) and G17 Plus were in charge of those ministries.

He stressed that Serbia needed to change its tax system.

“Public sector employees are on strike, but not those who are working for a minimum wage in the private sector, which shows that the money is also paid ‘under the table’,” he said.

When asked whether it was normal for Economy Minister Mlađan Dinkić to boycott government sessions, Šutanovac said he did not believe that the economy minister was doing that but he did agree that it would not be normal if he was really boycotting the meetings.

The defense minister claims that relations within the ruling coalition were “fine” and that it was not true that President Boris Tadić was making decisions for Prime Minister Mirko Cvetković.

Dinkić stated yesterday that the prime minister was not making any decisions on his own and that G17 Plus’ coalition partners were appointing “poltroons” and incompetent people to managerial positions.
