United Regions of Serbia official Vlajko Senic has stated that the government has lost its authority and that it is wasting its energy on conflicts. He told Radio B92 that the party’s presidency had drawn such a conclusion at the latest meeting. “Government has legitimacy but no authority” “The fact is that not all things are good, and it’s worst for us to sit in the government and not have a mutual communication, to get into conflicts and to waste our time on it, instead to solve problems,” Senic pointed out. He stated that work of the government officials needed to be inspected regardless of the parties they belonged to and that they needed to face both good and bad things. “Everybody bears their share of responsibility for the situation and that’s why we are calling on them to lay their cards on the table, to see who is doing a good job and who isn’t. I’m talking about an honest talk between several people who run the country. We have showed that we have no problem with staffing changes,” the URS official stressed. He assessed that the time had come for a government reshuffle and that it would be a big improvement if everybody started doing their job and if decisions were not made in several places. When asked about the conflict between G17 Plus leader and Deputy Prime Minister Mladjan Dinkic and Democratic Party’s Finance Ministry State Secretary Slobodan Ilic, Senic said that G17 Plus saw it as a conflict between the deputy PM and the civil servant and not a conflict between the two parties. “We are waiting for Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic’s response because we have turned to him in order to solve the problem,” he added. Senic pointed out that the opposition rally needed to be respected because there had been a lot of people there and that the government needed to implement changes in the next two months that would show that it had ideas which would make opposition’s requests meaningless. “We can offer a change for Serbia, not them. We are currently the biggest noose around our own neck. Nikolic (Serbian Progressive Party leader Tomislav) is acting rationally in an attempt to catch the last train to get to power, we haven’t lost our legitimacy, but we have lost our authority,” he stressed. According to Senic, the problem is that important decisions are being made in several places, “some in formal, others in informal communication” and the government needs to change its rhythm “which is set by its captain Cvetkovic”.
