Minister: Internal control in EPS

Energy Minister Petar Skundric says that internal control is being conducted in the Serbian Power Company (EPS) in order to determine possible irregularities. Internal control followed after reopening of the Kolubara Coal Mine affair which revealed numerous abuse and irregularities. We had an auditor in both Transnafta and Serbian Transmission System and Market Operator (EMS) and I’m pleased with the results because we only found minimal irregularities,” the energy minister stressed. He said that he had immediately realized that something was going on in Kolubara Coal Mine after he had reviewed the documents. “After election of new Director Nebojsa Ceran we have managed to reduce enormous and completely incomprehensible expenditures regarding lease of machines by ten times compared to 2008. We had a record high production of coal in Kolubara last year and electric power in EPS. Still, I believe that the expenditures could be rationalized even more,” Skundric pointed out.
