Serbian Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac says that Serbia has exported weapons and military equipment worth USD 750mn since 2007. He told daily Politika that the value of export had been USD 75mn in 2007 but that it had reached USD 247mn last year. Defense minister on weapons export Sutanovac pointed out that there were about 9,000 people working in the military industry and announced that new export contracts would be signed soon. “We are currently in the process of export worth over USD 50mn and we also have a contract for the export worth more than USD 400mn,” he stressed. The defense minister added that the contract for construction of three factories in North Africa had already been signed, that it had come in effect and that the realization of the project should begin soon. “All this is about USD 1.2bn worth of contracts during my mandate, meaning this is what I promised,” Sutanovac concluded.
