Serbian Deputy War Crimes Prosecutor Bruno Vekaric has stated that EULEX has the capacities to investigate the organ trafficking allegations in Kosovo. He noted, however, that it was questionable whether the EULEX had the courage to do so. “EULEX can probe organ trade” The deputy war crimes prosecutor said that organ trafficking in Kosovo should be investigated not only for the sake of the Kosovo Serbs and Albanians, but also because of the international community. "Human organ trafficking in Kosovo is a crime that should be investigated thoroughly," Vekaric told Jagodina television Palma Plus on Saturday. “No serious political force or country would support the monsters involved in organ harvesting,” he stressed. “Serbia's War Crimes Prosecution has good cooperation with EULEX, which has jurisdiction over the issue. EULEX is doing a far better job than UNMIK, but after Hashim Thaci's announcement that he will publish the names of people and witnesses that helped Council of Europe (CoE) Rapporteur Dick Marty, the question is how they will react and whether they will have the courage to carry out an investigation,” he explained. "If the Serbian, Albanian, Kosovo prosecution and EULEX were to operate as one team, and forget the differences between them, I guarantee that it would yield certain results," Vekaric pointed out. "What we have claimed was going on since the arrival of KFOR was made public in Marty's report. CoE is a serious international institution, and Marty is a professional, no one could have influenced his report," the deputy war crimes prosecutor underscored, adding that former Hague Tribunal Chief Prosecutor Carla Del Ponte was also willing to help by testifying in the proceedings. Vekaric reiterated that Serbia's War Crimes Prosecution "has enough material for a reasonable suspicion that a crime was committed," assessing that finding out the truth was in the interest of judicial bodies of Kosovo, Albania and EULEX, and that "we owe it to the families of the persons who went missing and were killed in Kosovo."
