Serbia’s economic recovery based on export has gained momentum, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) says.

Serbia’s economic recovery based on export has gained momentum, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) says. The IMF added, however, that increased inflation and external funding represented risks to macroeconomic stability. IMF: Serbian economy recovering The IMF pointed out in its latest report that Serbia was “recovering at a slow, but steady pace” when compared to other countries in the region. The main challenge remains curbing of inflation, which has exceeded the planned limit due to increase in food prices and weakening of dinar. The IMF believes that the Serbian government’s plan to use a part of the money from the sale of Telekom Srbija to finance the budget deficit is wise. According to the IMF, Serbian banking sector is stable, highly solvent and capable of absorbing credit risks caused by the companies’ bad business results.
