Serbs are the fourth most pessimistic nation in the world - on a list topped by the French, a Gallup survey has shown. Europeans are less optimistic than Americans, while people in Nigeria, Vietnam and Afghanistan cherish most hope and optimism, the BBC reported, quoting an article from the Tuesday edition of the Times newspaper. "Serbs among most pessimistic nations" Among the 53 nations included in the poll, Icelanders and Romanians are also more pessimistic than Serbs, while people in Britain are placed further down the list of gloom. "The French are proverbially gloomy, while the British can be said to have become such only after the financial crisis in 2008," said the report, cited by Tanjug news agency. And while the London daily sees the pessimistic mood of Europeans "as perhaps predictable" - the "unbridled optimism of Nigerians", and the fact that even Afghans were more optimistic than Americans was "really surprising".
