Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) Deputy leader Aleksandar Vucic expressed expectation on Friday that 2011 will be an election year. He announced that the SNS had collected 300,000 citizens' signatures for amendments to the Constitution, which will be filed to the Serbian parliament early in January. “2011 will be election year” The SNS deputy leader told a press conference that only a new government would be able to start resolving the accumulated problems in Serbia, particularly economic ones, and forward the country's EU-drive. “We are ready to do anything civilized and democratic for the citizens to get an opportunity to change the government, since the current authorities have lost their legitimacy,” he stressed, and described the development plan by the Democratic Party (DS) dubbed “Serbia 2020” as throwing dust into the eyes of the public, by making once again promises they cannot fulfill. He believes that having “enormous hunger for power”, the ruling coalition will not reduce the number of the MPs and administration. The SNS has launched the signature collecting campaign for constitutional changes, which would entail reduction in the number of MPs and costs incurred by the parliament. Aleksandar Vucic (FoNet)
