Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) has asked the government and the Justice Ministry what they are doing to reveal political background of PM Zoran Djindjic’s murder. “Are the ministry and the government with their authority standing fully behind the Special Prosecution and the Special Court that need to finish this proceedings,“ the LDP asked. LDP on political background of PM’s murder LDP MP Bojan Djuric has asked the government and the Justice Ministry whether the proceeding is conducted and whether criminal charges are being taken seriously and without any calculations. “What's very important for the LDP at the moment, just like in the last five years, is to be completely convinced that we are creating a system, primarily in judiciary but also in other state organs, that will under new circumstances be able to provide serious, legal answers to some questions that could not be resolved or were obstructed since 2004 until 2007 or 2008,“ the LDP MPs pointed out. “Protection of the Special Court, prosecution, of all the people who have been supressing organized crime in abnormal conditions since 2003 is one of the LDP's missions and a reason why the LDP was created. That's what we call the truth about March 12. We have been very patient and responsible while waiting for an epilogue of several events which took place last year, which are finally creating conditions to complete the investigation in this case and to stop all speculations that best suit those who directly wish that the political background in this court proceeding never gets untagled,“ the announcement reads. The LDP points out that the party filed criminal charges when it was completely clear that they would not immediately result in serious investigations due to tremendous pressure exerted on the judiciary at the time. “We filed first such charges back in 2006 and we asked for the investigation of all the details of a well-known illegal meeting between Milorad Ulemek Legija and the Interior Ministry and Security-Information Agency (BIA) leading officials in the night Ulemek turned himself in. That's the famous 'official note' case. The investigation was stopped by a brutal political order then. We all knew that but a proof showed up in the meantime, i.e. a witness who confirms it. I remind you that three months ago former prosecutor Zoran Jakovljevic, who worked on this case, officially confirmed in public that he had been instructed by the top prosecution officials, under order of police and BIA top political officials, to immediately stop the investigation,“ Djuric stressed. The LDP also points out that it has been over a month since lawyer Srdja Popovic filed criminal charges on behalf of Djindjic's family which, along with the LDP's charges from 2006, form “a basis and a sign that should direct the investigation, speed it up and enable making of a state, i.e. court decision in the proceeding“.
