Serbia will send an official to the ceremony in Oslo for this year's winner of the Nobel Peace Prize award. This comes despite an announcement this week that the ceremony, set to honor a Chinese dissident and opposed by China, would not be attended. Premier changes Nobel boycott decision Ombudsman Sasa Jankovic will travel to Oslo as Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic's envoy, it was announced in Belgrade late on Thursday. The prime minister's cabinet said in a statement that in this way expectations of a large part of the political and widest possible public in Serbia were met. It has also been announced that the decision not to attend the ceremony was made by Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic. Meanwhile, Belgrade tabloid Press reports on its website that President Tadic "asked that the prime minister sacks Jeremic", for not consulting with him on the Nobel decision. However, says the report, Tadic changed his mind "after associates convinced him that sacking Jeremic at this time would cause more harm than good".

Ombudsman Saša Janković will travel to Oslo as Prime Minister Mirko Cvetković's envoy, it was announced in Belgrade late on Thursday.

The prime minister's cabinet said in a statement that in this way expectations of a large part of the political and widest possible public in Serbia were met.
