Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic has confirmed that he officially submitted his candidacy for Democratic Party (DS) deputy president. He did not want to give any statement to reporters Friday when they asked him what he expected of the upcoming elections in the DS. Jeremic runs for DS deputy president “There is a decision of the Main Board of the Democratic Party that the issue should not be discussed in public,” he told reporters after talks with Cypriot Foreign Minister Markos Kyprianou. Asked to comment on the statement of Serbian President Boris Tadic, who said he was not sure whether it had been wrong of him or not to surround himself by young associates, the foreign minister said it would be inappropriate for a minister to comment on the president’s statement. “I performed and will continue to perform my job the best I can,” Jeremic added. In his conversation with students at the ceremonial session of the Assembly of the University Student Conference (SKONUS) a week ago, Tadic said: “I had a man who was 32 when he became foreign minister, my general secretary the same, and my chief of staff as well, and today they have enormous experience. Even today, I do not know if I was wrong or not to have given the great opportunity to young people.” Vuk Jeremic (FoNet)
