Pro-fascist’s custody extended

The Higher Court in Belgrade has extended custody of far-right organization Obraz leader Mladen Obradovic for a month. Obradovic was arrested on October 10 for organizing riots in the streets of Belgrade prior and during gay Pride Parade. Pro-fascist’s custody extended Investigation against him is still being conducted and he is accused of violent behavior at a public gathering. Arrestees’ 30-day detention expires today. The Higher Court in Belgrade will decide whether to file charges and extend their custody. “Higher Court criminal pre-trial chamber extended Mladen Obradovic’s custody for another month because of danger that he could repeat the criminal act after being released and due to especially difficult circumstances of the criminal act and envisaged punishment for the crime he has been accused of, which is over ten years,” Spokeswoman of the Higher Court in Belgrade Dusica Ristic stressed. 124 persons were arrested for causing riots prior and during the Pride Parade. 118 were remanded in custody for a month. The Higher Court has announced that criminal charges were filed against a number of suspects, while others are still being investigated. The First Municipal Court in Belgrade has finished investigation against eight persons suspected of taking part in the riots. “Criminal charges were filed against all persons who were brought to the Municipal Court in Belgrade. Against three persons for criminal act of grand larceny, against four persons for criminal act of obstructing a police officer in the execution of duty and against one person for racial and other discrimination,” First Municipal Court in Belgrade Spokesman Ivana Ramic said. Envisaged punishment for grand larceny is one to eight years in prison and for obstructing an officer in the execution of duty and racial and other discrimination six months to three years in prison.
