The Serbian government decided today in a phone meeting that the conditions are not present for Serbs in Kosovo to take part in elections there. The voting is organized by the Kosovo Albanian authorities and has been scheduled for December. Govt.: No conditions for K. Serbs to vote A statement from the government in Belgrade this Wednesday said that a dialogue on the future of Kosovo acceptable to both sides was necessary. "It is necessary to find a sustainable and lasting solution to the question of Kosovo and Metohija through dialogue as soon as possible," read the statement. The government also said that the solution must lead to a historical reconciliation of the Serb and Albanian people and secure lasting peace, as well as the EU perspective of the whole region. As for the announced elections, the government statement said that "the conditions are not present for Serb residents of Kosovo and Metohija to participate".
