The Serbian government and the IMF have agreed to send the draft law on pensions and disability insurance to MPs "without any essential changes". The International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission and Serbian officials have agreed to continue the dialogue with a view to reaching an agreement soon on completing the 6th review of the stand-by arrangement, the IMF mission said in a statement Friday. IMF: No changes to draft pension law The IMF mission, led by Albert Jaeger, visited Serbia from October 21 to November 4, to conduct discussions on the sixth review of Serbia's economic program supported by the Stand-By Arrangement. Mission chief Albert Jaeger said in a statement Friday that the program has been implemented largely according to plan and that all criteria set at the end of September 2010 have been met, although the inflation rate was somewhat above the agreed figure and the upper limit. It was also agreed to have the amendments to the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance returned to parliament within a few weeks, without any essential changes compared to those submitted in June 2010, he said. There are encouraging signs that Serbia's economy is continuing to recover based on exports, he said. Economic growth is expected to reach at least 1.5 percent this year and three percent next year, Jaeger said. The statement noted that although significant progress was made in the talks about the 2011 budget, agreement could not be reached during the mission's stay in Serbia. The government and IMF officials in Belgrade and Washington will now continue their talks on the sixth review of the stand-by arrangement, with IMF representative Bogdan Lissovolik acting as mediator in the communication between the two sides.
