The Kosovo assembly in Pristina is expected to vote against Hashim Thaci’s government next week, probably on Wednesday or Thursday. Such decision would be enough to call early elections in Kosovo and there are speculations that they could be held on December 12 or 19. Pristina government faces no confidence vote One of the leaders of newly established party New Spirit Ilir Deda told B92 that Kosovo politicians’ only focus right now were elections and not negotiations with Belgrade. “It’s more important for us that the election process is regular, that the election day goes without problems and that the Central Election Commission has enough time to prepare these elections well,” Deda stressed. “As far as other issues are concerned, I think that other issues outside this election process are not in the second but in the third place, because topics such as dialogue with Belgrade and international issues regarding Kosovo will be in focus after the elections and after the new government is formed,” he explained. Deda also stressed that it was hard to say who would benefit most from the elections in December. “The question is whether it suits our society and whether the Central Election Commission will be able to organize it well. We certainly don’t want elections which will be irregular and which will produce an illegitimate government at a time when Kosovo is going into important internal democratic processes. Regardless of the fact that current large parties are calculating that it will suit them the most, I think that they will be surprised when they see the outcome of the vote,” he said. Elections in Kosovo were already scheduled for February 13, 2011, but the date moved forward after the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) withdrew from the government.
