“Millennium goals to be achieved by 2015”

President Boris Tadić has stated that Serbia has an obligation and intention to achieve strategic UN Millennium Development Goals in next five years.

President Boris Tadic has stated that Serbia has an obligation and intention to achieve strategic UN Millennium Development Goals in next five years. He said at a celebration of the UN Day that “he and his coworkers made sure to set a realistic deadline” this time. “Millennium goals to be achieved by 2015” The president explained that the essence of the goals was combat against global poverty, discrimination, protection of human rights, environment and struggle to create new but to prevent destruction of the old. UN members agreed at a summit in 2005 to try to achieve eight millennium goals by 2015. “Because if the world does not find mechanisms for financial security and financial certainty as much as possible in its highest umbrella institution, we will not be able to speak about millennium goals, combat against poverty, protection of human rights, fight against discrimination, combat against organized crime, protection of our cultural heritage and environmental protection,” Tadic stressed. Central manifestation was held last night at the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade and Head of the UN mission to Serbia William Infante, Serbian President Boris Tadic and Spanish Embassy Charge D'affaires Javier Hergueta Garnica attended the celebration. The UN Day in Serbia will concentrate on the UN Millennium Development Goals, especially on rural and cultural tourism that connects ecology, ethnology, organic food, cultural heritage, traditional art, old crafts, music and wear.

UN members agreed at a summit in 2005 to try to achieve eight millennium goals by 2015.

UN Day celebrated in Serbia

UN celebrates its day on October 24. The UN Day in Serbia will be devoted to development of sustainable tourism.
