The Serbian Ministry of Defense denied claims made by Boris Aleksić, the legal adviser to Hague indictee Vojislav Šešelj.

The Serbian Ministry of Defense denied claims made by Boris Aleksic, the legal adviser to Hague indictee Vojislav Seselj. Aleksic said that head of Belgrade's Military Medical Academy (VMA) Major General Miodrag Jevtic did not allow cardiologist Zdravko Mijailovic to offer medical assistance to the leader of the opposition Serb Radical Party (SRS). Defense Ministry denies Seselj claims According to the records of the Defense Ministry, Seselj's last request for a check up by VMA doctors came in July 2009 and was approved, the Defense Ministry said in its statement. The Defense Ministry will continue to offer assistance to Serbian citizens in detention at The Hague in line with laws and procedures, the statement points out, and reminds that the requests made by individuals charged or convicted by the Hague Tribunal are delivered to the Defense Ministry through the National Council for Cooperation with the Hague. Aleksic told a news conference on September 26 that Seselj's defense team has filed a motion for the dismissal of the VMA chief because he refused to allow the cardiologist to offer assistance to Seselj.
