NATO “double standard for Kosovo, Georgia”

Russian NATO representative Dmitry Rogozin said that NATO has a double standard towards the situations in Georgia and Kosovo.

Russian NATO representative Dmitry Rogozin said that NATO has a double standard towards the situations in Georgia and Kosovo. He said that NATO supports the territorial integrity of Georgia but not Serbia. NATO “double standard for Kosovo, Georgia” “NATO countries are putting diplomatic pressure on countries not to recognize the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia,” he said. Rogozin said that the countries of the Alliance are trying to use economic methods to help the reintegration of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. He said that such tendencies are “very dangerous” because eventual unsuccessful administration of the two autonomous provinces that have seceded would be used as propaganda as a illustration of “the success of Georgia and the failure of the new states.” He said that Russia is following the situation closely, as well as all the sending of weapons to Georgia by the countries of NATO and the EU, and is demanding that no weapons and technology that can be used for aggression against South Ossetia and Abkhazia be sent to Georgia. Rogozin said that NATO’s promise that Georgia and Ukraine “would with time become members” was a very important factor that provoked the aggression of Georgia in South Ossetia in August 2008.
