Serbia's Infrastructure Minister Milutin Mrkonjic has signed an agreement on forming a joint railway company with his Slovenia and Croat counterparts. The three countries' ministers agreed at Brdo pri Kranju, Slovenia, recently to form a railway alliance in order to make transport more efficient and profitable, and shorten the trip from Ljubljana to Istanbul from 57 to 35 hours. Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia in railway deal The three officials said that such a company would be the right way to eliminate all the current weaknesses of the three railway systems, such as complicated and slow procedures at border crossings that is the procedures of customs, phyto-sanitary and veterinary control. The three officials have formed a group of railway experts whose task will be to realize the agreement. The new company will be established in Ljubljana in keeping with EU standards, said announcements.
