Parliament elects new central bank chief

The Serbian parliament on Wednesday elected Dejan Šoškić for a six-year mandate as the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) governor.

The Serbian parliament on Wednesday elected Dejan Soskic for a six-year mandate as the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) governor. 129 out of 250 MPs were present in the hall, and they all voted in favor, said reports. Parliament elects new central bank chief Soskic was nominated for the position by Serbian President Boris Tadic. Now former central bank chief Radovan Jelasic resigned earlier this year for personal reasons. MPs were also scheduled to vote on 13 other bills and agreements that were on the agenda of the fourth special session. The election of the NBS Council president and appointment of the parliament deputy general secretary were also on the agenda. The fourth special session of parliament started on July 13. (Tanjug)

Šoškić was nominated for the position by Serbian President Boris Tadić.
