Croatian President Ivo Josipovic said that all countries of the Western Balkans must join the EU, and called on Belgrade and Pristina to begin cooperating. After the decision of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Kosovo, Josipovic said that the way to solve relations between Belgrade and Pristina is through EU integration. Croat president: Belgrade, Pristina to turn to dialogue Josipovic’s cabinet stated that Croatia is deeply convinced that the solution for all open questions between the countries of the region lies in their eventual EU membership. “In this context, Croatia wants to see Belgrade and Pristina turn towards constructive dialogue and cooperation with the goal of achieving lasting stability and peace in the region,” the president’s cabinet stated. Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Jandrokovic stated earlier that Croatia supports the ICJ’s opinion. “I believe that the advisory decision of the Court will contribute to the stabilization of the situation in Southeast Europe,” he told reporters in Zagreb. He reminded that Croatia has recognized Kosovo’s independence and that it participated in the debate before the ICJ, adding that Croatia would continue to support all regional countries on their roads of European integration.
