Opposition SNS party deputy leader Aleksandar Vucic called off on Monday his previously announced hunger strike. This came after the arrest of persons suspected of distributing false payment notices, that called for money to be paid to the opposition party' account ahead of recent local elections in the eastern town of Bor. Party official calls off hunger strike The arrest of the state-run postal service PTT deputy director and ruling DS member, which occurred on Sunday, represented "a small victory for all of Serbia," Vucic told journalists in front of the Serbian government building where he had earlier announced he would start a hunger strike. Serbian police (MUP) stated on Sunday that Petar Komnenovic from Belgrade, suspected of orchestrating the distribution of the false payment notices in Bor, and PTT's Milos Miscevic, were brought in for questioning. Vucic told the authorities that he would "closely follow the steps they are making regarding the election fraud in Bor". Commenting on the suspects that were detained, Vucic said that SNS also thought one of them was involved in the matter. "I believe that after this no one will dream of taking advantage of public and state-owned companies in order to stage an election fraud," Vucic concluded.
