Serbian Parliament Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic says that parliament will adopt a declaration condemning crimes against Serbs by October 1. According to her, "everything would have taken its normal course and the declaration would have been adopted already if there parliament had been in a regular sitting". Declaration on crimes against Serbs "by October" “When we finished the draft declaration we went into the extraordinary sitting, and then it’s necessary that 84 MPs or the government request the session. It seems that this emergency procedure is disputable, I think that's all it's about,” Djukic-Dejanovic told Belgrade daily Politika. “With this declaration we would remind our colleagues from parliaments of the other former Yugoslav republics that it’s necessary to condemn crimes committed against Serbs and citizens of Serbia, and we have their understanding for that when we talk to them,” she stated. A delegation of Croatian MPs who recently visited Belgrade showed understanding, said Djukic-Dejanovic, but added that she "could not say whether they would have the capacity to make certain decisions by a parliamentary majority". The Serbian parliament decided to adopt a declaration condemning crimes committed against Serbs after it adopted a similar declaration condemning the crime in Srebrenica.
