The current rise in retail prices confirms the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) forecast that year-on-year inflation will stay under four percent in June. This is according to a statement from the central bank issued in Belgrade this Wednesday which also adds that inflation was below the lower limit of the allowed deviation from the target. Year-on-year inflation under 4 pct In June, retail prices were up 6.4 percent from a year ago. The NBS targets consumer prices and not retail prices, as is common international practice because this index is a better indicator of how inflation affects consumption, the central bank stated. The NBS set the target inflation for 2010 at six plus-minus two percent.
